About-Kerrie-Byer

Kerrie Byer MSW, LCSW

“I help teens & young adults to release the traumatic experiences of their past so they can move towards their future.”

As a client, you are the expert of your life, and my role is to assist you in creating the life you want. I help people identify barriers in their life and work with them to create a plan that allows for the resolution of those barriers.

I believe that we all have an inherent drive to live in a way that helps us find calm, peace and contentment. Therapy is a great space to figure out the best way to meet that goal and work through any barriers that keep us from experiencing the life that we deserve to live.

As an EMDR-certified clinician, I can help you process your trauma through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy. EMDR is a treatment for PTSD and other trauma-related disorders that helps clients recover from the distressing events of their past. We can work together to implement EMDR in your therapy to resolve the challenges that are holding you back so you can really begin the healing process.

I am experienced in working with individuals and families seeking support for a variety of reasons, including addiction, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, parenting problems and issues related to trauma and abuse. I am especially passionate about working with families who have been impacted by a loved one’s addiction or psychiatric crises.

On a Personal Note:

I really enjoy being active and outside! I’ve lived in Wilmington for a little over four years and still enjoy exploring new parts of the area! I love spending time by the water, going for runs and practicing yoga.
